The Answer: Salvation is a Gift

If you want to be saved, please read carefully.

1. Recognize You are a Sinner

Read: Romans 3:23, James 2:10, Romans 6:23, John 3:19

  • The Bible says all have sinned by breaking at least one of the Commandments. (James 2:10)
  • You will never be good enough or do enough good to earn God’s gift of Salvation. (Ephesians 2:8)
  • On what basis do you hope to get into heaven? The Bible clearly says it is not by our good works. (Isaiah 64:6)

2. Repent of Your Sin

Read: Acts 3:19, Mark 1:15, Luke 13:3 & 5, Acts 17:30, Acts 26:20

  • Repentance in the Bible is a call to recognize God’s worthiness and our unworthiness. One man described it as “Taking God’s side against yourself”. Repentance results in a change of direction, from sin, self, religion, etc. toward God. (Acts 20:21)
  • It also includes asking God for forgiveness for your sin. (Luke 18:13)

3. Receive Christ as Your Lord and Savior

Read: John 3:15-17, 1 John 1:9, Acts 16:31, John 14:6, John 1:12

  • Salvation is the forgiveness of our sin, by grace and through faith, in the completed work of Christ on our behalf. (1 John 1:9)
  • By Jesus’ death on the cross, burial and resurrection, He made it possible for you to accept His free gift of salvation. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
  • The Bible also says believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. (Acts 16:31)
  • Jesus is the only way you can be saved. (John 14:6)
  • If you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior with your mouth and believe in your heart that God has raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9-10)
  • Jesus paid the penalty, for your sin, which is death. (Romans 6:23)
  • All you have to do is receive His free gift of Salvation. (John 1:12)

Now what?

Ask God to forgive you and receive Jesus as your Savior

Read: Romans 10:9-10 & 13, Luke 18:13, John 1:12

Father, I come to You recognizing I have offended You by breaking Your law. I come to You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and repent of my sin. Please forgive me, in Jesus’s name. I receive Christ as my personal Savior and Lord, according to Your word. I hereby turn from my sin and purpose to live the rest of my life for You. I thank You and praise You for forgiving my sin and saving me from being separated from You for eternity. I pray that You will be glorified through me as I dedicate my life to You. I ask all this in Jesus’s name. Amen.

4. Reason for Salvation is Christ’s Glory

Read: Revelation 4:11, Revelation 5:12, Ephesians 1:6-14

  • When you received Jesus into your heart, He received His reward for the suffering He endured on the cross when He died for your sin. (Hebrews 2:9)
  • He is glorified through your conversion of faith through receiving Him as your Savior and Lord. (Acts 3:19)
  • Your walk (actions) now that you are a Christian will glorify Him. (Colossians 1:10, Ephesians 4:1)

5. Results of Your Salvation is the Fruit in Your Life

Read: 2 Peter 3:18, Galatians 5:22 & 23, John 15:1-5, Titus 2:12, Ephesians 2:10, Romans 8:29, 1 John 3:2, Genesis 1:26

  • Fruit in your life is defined in Ephesians 2:10 as good works that follow salvation, not for salvation.
  • When you turned your heart from sin to God, the natural result is a desire to be more like Christ, or Christ-like. (Romans 8:29, 1 John 3:2, Genesis 1:26)
  • Since you have now made this confession of faith and received Christ as your personal Savior and Lord:
    • Read your Bible daily.
    • Find a Bible believing church.
    • Prayer is a conversation with God. Spend time talking with Him in prayer daily.

Not mankind, but to God be the glory!
